FAQs About the Stones
Each custom piece is different, depending on the stone and design.
Most commissions take 2–4 weeks from initial enquiry to completion.
We’ll confirm your timeframe once we’ve discussed your idea and selected the right stone.
It all begins with a conversation.
You can enquire here (https://www.preciousstonependants.co.nz/contact)to share your ideas, whether you have a specific shape, stone, or purpose in mind.
We’ll talk through materials, design sketches, and any symbolism you’d like to include.
Once confirmed, Aaron hand-carves and finishes each piece in our Nelson studio, keeping you updated along the way.
Yes, we offer restringing and light repairs for existing pendants — whether they were made by us or not.

We’ll discuss the best cord or braid option and provide an estimated timeframe before any work begins.
All our stones are locally sourced from the Nelson, Tasman, and West Coast regions of Aotearoa.
We collect each one by hand — usually from riverbeds or coastal areas — and carve them in our small Nelson studio.
Our current collection includes Jade (Nephrite / Pounamu),(https://www.preciousstonependants.co.nz/category/jade-greenstone-pounamu) Argillite (Pakohe),(https://www.preciousstonependants.co.nz/category/argillite-pakohe) Serpentine,(https://www.preciousstonependants.co.nz/category/serpentine) Garnet (Grossular / Rodingite),(https://www.preciousstonependants.co.nz/category/garnet-rodingite) and Jasper.(https://www.preciousstonependants.co.nz/category/jasper)
Each stone is durable, but a little care goes a long way.
• Wipe gently with a soft, damp cloth.
• Avoid harsh cleaners or chemicals.
• If your cord becomes worn, we can restring it for you.
• Store it somewhere soft when not in use to prevent scratches.
Your pendant will continue to develop a natural polish as it’s worn close to the skin — part of what makes each piece unique. Read more Caring for Your Pendant (https://www.preciousstonependants.co.nz/pendant-care)
While some of the materials we work with — such as Pounamu and Pakohe — hold deep cultural importance in Aotearoa, our pieces are created respectfully as artistic expressions, not traditional taonga.
We encourage each wearer to connect with their pendant in their own personal way.
